Black Stars Legends to face UMB Speed Stars in star-studded friendly

The Black Stars Legends will return to action on Saturday, 19 September 2026, when they face United Merchant Bank (UMB) Speed Stars in a special friendly at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf.

The fixture is being staged under the auspices of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), bringing together a group of Ghanas most celebrated former internationals and senior figures from UMB.

The match is intended to strengthen ties and encourage closer co-operation between Ghanas football and corporate communities, while offering fans the chance to see several former Black Stars players back on the pitch.

Former national team goalkeepers Fatau Dauda and Sammy Adjei are included in the Black Stars Legends squad.

They will be joined by Afo Dodoo, Yaw Acheampong, Yaw Preko and George Alhassan, along with Daniel Opare, Prince Tagoe, Majeed Waris, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, John Paintsil and Jerry Akaminko.

The gathering of former Black Stars players is expected to create a nostalgic occasion for supporters and underline their continuing connection with the sport in which they represented Ghana.

UMBs team will be captained by the banks Captain and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Oti-Mensah, who will play alongside colleagues from the financial institution.

The UMB Speed Stars squad also includes Dennis Nyaku, Kingsley Sesenu, Christian Boakye, Richard Sarfo, Patrick Afrifa and Abdul Rahman Musa, among others.

UMB is an official Banking Partner of the Ghana Football Association. The bank has also increased its involvement in Ghanaian football by becoming headline sponsor of the Division One League for the next three years.

That partnership reflects UMBs ongoing backing for the development and growth of football in Ghana. The friendly will provide another opportunity for the bank and the football community to come together around their shared interest in the game.
