Innswood seek improvements St Catherine outfit tackle high-flying St Mary’s College in Manning Cup

Group leaders St Mary’s College will also be hunting a third win a row. However, Innswood High are aiming to cut their stride when they clash at Chedwin Park in a Zone B ISSA Manning Cup football match today, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Innswood thumped Clan Carty 6-0 on Saturday to record their first win, but Anthony Patrick, head coach of Innswood, believes his players are yet to play their best game.

“I think there’s a whole lot of work to do. The first game we drew 1-1 with Hillel and to come now and get six goals, it’s a step in the right direction,” said Patrick.

“But the thing is that we have some good teams in front of us that we are going to play. We just have to fix some more things, fine-tune some things, and, hopefully, we can start a little bit better.”

Hillel hopes

Also in Zone B, Hillel Academy are looking for a spot further up the table when they host Penwood High.

Hillel opened their account with a 1-1 draw against Innswood High, and should anticipate a strong challenge from Penwood in their second encounter.

Meanwhile, early group leader Norman Manley High will look to extend their perfect start in Zone C, when they welcome Donald Quarrie High at Maxfield Park today at 3:30 pm.

Norman Manley enjoyed back-to-back wins against Ardenne High and Edith Dalton James High.

The boys from Maxfield Avenue have scored 12 goals in two games, and will be looking to add to that tally against Donald Quarrie.

Slight favourites

They will enter the game as slight favourites, but will be wary of a Donald Quarrie outfit expected to bring a competitive edge.

Donald Quarrie are hunting their first win of the season, after an opening 2-2 draw against Kingston Technical High School (KTHS).

Also in Zone C, Denham Town High will be hoping to pick up a second consecutive win when they travel to Ardenne.

Denham Town recovered from a shock loss to Edith Dalton James in their first game to edge Pembroke Hall 3-2 over the weekend.

As one of the favourites to advance from the group, Denham Town are heavy favourites to get past Ardenne, who have struggled in the group.

Ardenne are without a win after consecutive defeats to Norman Manley and KTHS, and will face another stern test against Denham Town.

Zone A leaders

Zone A leaders Holy Trinity will face third-place Greater Portmore, while Camperdown, who also hold a perfect record, will face off against fifth-place Jonathan Grant.

A slip-up from either Holy Trinity or Camperdown could shape the fate of the group, as the two sit first and second, respectively.

All matches will kick off at 3:30 p.m.
