Three Torrevieja Sports Courts Reopen after €640,000 Renovation
Outdoor facilities in La Mata, Cabo Cervera and Los Balcones have received new playing surfaces, improved access, replacement fencing and energy-efficient LED lighting
Three municipal outdoor sports facilities in Torrevieja have reopened to the public following a comprehensive €640,211 refurbishment.
The project covered the multi-sports court in Perfecta Rodríguez Park in La Mata, the sports court in Cabo Cervera and the multi-sports facilities near Reina de la Sal in Los Balcones.
Torrevieja City Council said the work had addressed years of deterioration while making the courts safer, more accessible and better suited to sport and healthy recreational activities.
The renovations were carried out by Construcciones Hermanos Espín SL.
Improvements included replacing or repairing the playing surfaces and applying non-slip sports paint with regulation court markings.
Damaged fencing and perimeter enclosures were replaced, while deteriorated walls, paving and spectator stands were removed or renovated where necessary.
Access routes were also improved to make the facilities easier to use for people with reduced mobility.
New sports-grade LED floodlights have been installed at the three sites, allowing the courts to be used after dark while reducing energy consumption.
Councillor for Sports Diana Box said reopening the facilities represented an important improvement for residents of La Mata, Cabo Cervera and Los Balcones.
“With this investment of more than €640,000, we are providing residents with renovated facilities that are safer and more accessible, allowing them to enjoy sport close to their homes,” she said.
Box added that the Sports Department would continue working to address maintenance and improvement needs across Torrevieja’s municipal facilities.
“These courts are also places where people can meet and spend time together, allowing children, young people and adults to enjoy their leisure time and develop healthy habits,” she said.
The three courts are now available for public use.
