Zambia is set to host a high level United States delegation as Washington moves to deepen economic, trade and security relations with key African countries.

US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank Garcia is expected to visit Zambia, Ethiopia and Kenya as part of a regional tour aimed at strengthening America’s partnerships across the continent.

The US Bureau of African Affairs recently announced the planned visit, which comes as the Trump administration places increased emphasis on trade, investment and commercially driven partnerships in its engagement with African nations.

Washington has indicated that additional stops could be added to the itinerary where countries are able to secure significant commercial agreements.

For Zambia, the visit could place trade, investment, critical minerals and security cooperation high on the bilateral agenda, potentially creating new opportunities for American investment and stronger economic ties.

The high-level engagement also comes at a time when Zambia is seeking to attract more foreign investment and expand its international economic partnerships.

The visit is therefore expected to attract significant attention in Lusaka, particularly among government officials and the private sector looking for new opportunities to deepen Zambia-US commercial relations.
