Oyebanji Dissolves Cabinet, Retains CPS, Others
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, dissolved the State Executive Council yesterday.
The governor announced the dissolution during the council’s valedictory meeting on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The dissolution affects members of the 2022–2026 Executive Council, comprising commissioners and other political appointees who served during his first term, ahead of his inauguration for a second term on 16 October.
Members of the dissolved State Executive Council exempted from retention are the Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode; the Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo; and the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habitat Adubiaro.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their support, dedication and commitment to the service of the state.
He stated that their contributions to the success of his administration were critical to the achievements recorded over the last four years.
The governor praised them for their roles in implementing government policies and programmes, which he said had contributed to his administration’s development agenda.
The development came a few days before Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration, scheduled for Friday, 16 October, signalling a possible reconstitution of the State Executive Council as the administration prepares for another four years in office.
