Parliament clarifies notice on 2026/2027 National Service postings

Parliament has clarified that a notice asking prospective National Service personnel to seek reposting was a routine administrative directive and did not represent a freeze on placements.
The clarification follows public commentary on social media over a notice displayed on Parliament’s notice board which read: “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.”
In a statement issued on Monday, October 5, and signed by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, Parliament said the notice had been misconstrued.
According to Parliament, the notice was “not a policy statement, a freeze on national service placements, or a reflection of any change in Parliament’s support for the National Service Scheme.”
It explained that the message was directed at prospective National Service personnel who had reported to Parliament.
The institution said it had received more personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year, prompting the advice for some applicants to seek reposting to other institutions.
Parliament reaffirmed its commitment to the National Service Scheme and acknowledged the contribution of service personnel to its operations.
It also expressed regret over any confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the notice.
