CalBank supports Achimota Golf Club’s Pink Cup in fight against breast cancer

CalBank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote health, strengthen communities and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, following its sponsorship of the 2026 ONE Pink Cup Golf Tournament organized by the Ladies Section of the Achimota Golf Club.
Held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, the tournament brought together golfers, corporate partners and health advocates to raise funds for breast cancer treatment and promote greater public awareness of the disease as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
For CalBank, its support for the initiative reflects a recognition that breast cancer is more than a health issue. It is a deeply personal challenge that affects individuals, families and communities, making awareness, early detection and access to treatment critical to improving outcomes for those affected.
Speaking on the bank’s participation, Dr. Amos William Abaidoo, Head of Marketing, Brands and Communications at CalBank PLC, commended the Achimota Golf Club’s Ladies Section for using sport as a platform to shine a light on an issue that touches so many lives.
“We are particularly interested in and proud to support the efforts of the Achimota Golf Club’s Ladies Section to shine a light on breast cancer, because this is something that touches us so deeply as a society. For many, the journey is made even more difficult by the cost of treatment and the emotional toll of the disease,” Dr. Abaidoo said.
Proceeds from the initiative are directed towards supporting the Breast Cancer Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and assisting cancer patients at Achimota Hospital who face financial challenges in accessing treatment.
Dr. Abaidoo noted that such initiatives demonstrate the importance of partnerships between the private sector and community organizations in addressing issues that extend beyond commercial interests.
He also encouraged the public to take breast health seriously, emphasizing the importance of awareness, timely medical attention and support for people living with breast cancer.
The 2026 ONE Pink Cup featured an 18-hole Stableford competition, with male and female golfers competing across different handicap categories. Participants and supporters also wore pink in a visible show of solidarity with breast cancer patients and survivors.
The event was attended by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, as Special Guest of Honour, and received support from corporate partners including Ocean Network Express, CalBank PLC and Destination du Soleil.
As the bank continues to engage with initiatives that support the wellbeing of Ghanaians, it remains committed to partnerships that create meaningful impact and help build stronger, healthier communities.
