Lilongwe ‘Shines’ Bright With Zero MSCE Passes

Lilongwe has ‘shone’ on the wrong side of the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results, with two schools in the capital recording a zero percent pass rate.

The schools are Greenfield Academy in Lilongwe West and Vision Foundation in Lilongwe City, according to results released by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB).

This means none of the candidates who sat for the examinations from the two schools managed to qualify for the MSCE.

The two schools are among six schools across the country that recorded a zero percent pass rate.

The other four are Neesena Private in Thyolo, Joy Private in Mangochi, Kalonga II Community in Lilongwe East and Lusolathu Private in Machinga.

Meanwhile, St Mauritius Secondary School in Rumphi emerged among the top-performing schools, with 65 percent of its candidates attaining distinctions.

Ludzi Girls in Mchinji followed with 50.13 percent, while St Kizito Seminary in Dedza recorded 49.71 percent.

Nationally, 111,510 candidates passed out of 188,169 who sat for the 2026 MSCE examinations, representing a pass rate of 59.26 percent.

The results show that national secondary schools performed best among school categories, recording a 97.36 percent pass rate.
