No arrest in teacher’s murder three years later

OMUNGWELUME – Ohangwena police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Andreas Nghiyolwa, has confirmed that no arrest has been made three years after the 2023 murder of teacher Natanael Nghihalwa, better known as Thabo.

Nghiyolwa said the investigation is still ongoing. Nghihalwa was shot at night after returning home from his bar at Oshikwiyu village in the Ohangwena region. He was 39 years old. According to the police report, he was shot after coming out of the shower and died at the scene. The suspects later cut the cables of his vehicle to prevent it from moving. Nghihalwa was a teacher at Oshali West Combined School in the Ohangwena region. One of his brothers said the family is still living in fear because no one has been arrested in connection with the murder. “We are not safe anymore. It is not easy to lose a brother in such a way,” he said.
