ALAF launches 8th edition of football league in Dar

DAR ES SALAAM: ALAF Limited over the weekend launched the eighth edition of its internal football league as part of the company’s health and wellness program.

The launch event was held at Coco Beach and was coloured by 5km jogging that attracted the ALAF jogging club members and other stakeholders.

The league, which has gained popularity by the years, will feature ALAF employees teams named after their product brands;Simba Dumu, Simba Chuma, Maxcover, Safcool and Safthem.

Speaking at the event, the ALAF Head of Finance, Lincoln Duplessis said apart from promoting sporting activities, the league is part of the company’s health and wellness program to ensure the employees are more productive and active.

“At ALAF, we prioritize our employees’ health, which is why we created the ‘ALAF Premier League’ featuring five competitive teams from different departments, the league also plays a critical role in building team spirit and fun sense of competition” he explained.

He further highlighted the numerous benefits of regular physical activity, including reduced chronic disease risks and improved cardiovascular health.

On her part, the ALAF’s Human Resource Business Partner, Rehema Amry said, “Prioritizing health and fitness establishes a cultural precedent, encouraging employees to take their well-being seriously.Investing in employee health through sports is a long-term strategy that can drive sustainable growth and success for our company.”

She noted that healthier employees contribute to lower healthcare costs, and group sports foster teamwork and communication, strengthening workplace relationships,

The ALAF Sports Chairman Charles Wencenslaus said, “The league was very competitive last year hence we are looking forward to a more exciting one this year with all the teams having prepared well. Our goal is to develop a unified team that represents ALAF in various sporting events while promoting teamwork within the company,”
