TCN, Imcomtel Prepare Katsina Substation For Major Equipment Installation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Katsina Sub-Region, and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have inspected the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project ahead of the installation of major equipment.

The inspection, conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, was led by the assistant general manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Usman Idris. He received the Imcomtel delegation, headed by Emmanuel Okafor.

The team assessed ongoing civil works, equipment locations and other supporting infrastructure to determine the site’s readiness for the next phase of the project.

Particular attention was paid to two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the project site on July 9, 2026, as well as their designated plinths. The transformers are expected to increase transmission capacity in Katsina State and the wider North-West region.

The team also inspected four newly delivered control rooms to verify their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems.

At the end of the inspection, TCN and Imcomtel agreed on the outstanding technical requirements and site preparations needed to support the smooth installation of the major equipment.

The inspection team included the principal manager, Mustapha Idowu, and heads of technical departments.
