Sassa announces revised November grant payment dates

Social grant beneficiaries will receive their November payments earlier than usual after the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) revised its payment schedule to avoid disruptions during the upcoming local government elections.

Under the revised arrangements, payments will begin on October 30, with older persons grants, followed by disability grants on November 2 and children’s grants on November 3.

Sassa said the changes followed consultations with stakeholders and approval from National Treasury to ensure payments could be administered efficiently and securely during the election period.

“The adjustment is intended to support the smooth administration of social grant payments during the period surrounding the Local Government Elections,” the agency said.

Revised Sassa payment dates for November

• Older persons grants: Friday, October 30
• Disability grants: Monday, November 2
• Children’s grants: Tuesday, November 3
• Grants under review: Thursday, November 5

Sassa said the November 5 payment date was specifically intended for beneficiaries whose grants were under review.

The agency urged beneficiaries who had received official communication about a review to respond and attend appointments when requested.

It also advised grant recipients not to rush to Sassa offices unnecessarily, saying payments would be processed according to the revised schedule.

Beneficiaries were encouraged to use Sassa’s official communication channels to confirm payment information and guard against misinformation about social grants.

Sassa said it remained committed to ensuring eligible beneficiaries received their grants in an orderly and reliable manner while protecting the integrity of the social assistance system.

The revised dates apply to the November 2026 payment cycle and come as the country prepares for local government elections.
