The United Kingdom (UK) and World Economic Forum (WEF) have congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as Republican President.
In a congratulatory message, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, the Right Honorable Ed Miliband, said the UK and Zambia share a longstanding friendship rooted in Commonwealth ties and strong people-to-people links.
Mr Miliband said the UK looks forward to strengthening the long-standing partnership with Zambia during President Hichilema’s second term.
Meanwhile, WEF President and Chief Executive Officer, Alois Zwinggi, has also congratulated President Hichilema on his re-election.
Mr Zwinggi said the Economic Forum looks forward to continuing its close collaboration with the Zambian Government.
He added that the Forum is also committed to fostering public-private cooperation in support of Zambia’s development priorities.
Mr Zwinggi noted that the Forum values its partnership with Zambia and looks forward to strengthening cooperation aimed at advancing the country’s development agenda.
