Asante Kotoko focused on what it can control against Samartex – Eric Tinkler

Asante Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler says his side must focus on the factors within its control when they face FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday.Samartex have made a perfect start to the Ghana Premier League, winning both of their opening matches, including a 1-0 victory over Aduana FC.The Timber Giants have also won their last four home matches, setting up a difficult test for Kotoko, who will be looking to build on their 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions last weekend.Tinkler admits the long journey and difficult opposition cannot be controlled but insists Kotoko can influence the outcome through their performance.We need to think about focusing on the controllables. You know, we can't control the fact that the trip is going to be a very, very long trip. That is just a fact and we have to accept it, he said.The South African believes a positive approach, combined with intensity and energy, could give Kotoko a chance of competing strongly.But our actions will determine the result. If we go there, play a brand of football that is positive, with good intensity and a lot of energy, then we can compete against them, Tinkler added.Kotokos away record remains a concern, with the Porcupine Warriors winning just once in their last 10 league trips.Tinkler will hope his players can overcome that poor run and maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
