BULAWAYO giants Highlanders unveiled a special centenary kit on Thursday night as the club continues to mark 100 years of existence in a historic but emotionally charged 2026 season.
The three-kit collection home, away and alternative was unveiled at the Highlanders Clubhouse, with just seven matches remaining in the Premier Soccer League season.
The special edition kits, manufactured by long-standing club partners Looks Sportswear, are part of a series of initiatives being rolled out to commemorate the milestone.
Highlanders, one of Zimbabwe’s biggest and most supported football clubs, have marked their centenary year through a number of activities, including the Centenary Charity Golf Tournament, the launch of the official Highlanders African Gin and the introduction of a range of commemorative regalia.
The club is also planning a Family Fun Day and comedy night as part of the celebrations.
However, the landmark year has also been marred by tragedy.
Three Highlanders executive members died in a road traffic accident earlier this year, while a number of Bosso supporters also lost their lives in a separate accident while returning from a football match.
Despite the heartbreak, the club has continued with its centenary celebrations, with the new collection expected to become a cherished piece of memorabilia for supporters.
Looks Sportswear said the special collection was designed to capture Highlanders’ rich history and the strong relationship between the club and its supporters.
“Looks Sportswear is proud to celebrate Highlanders Football Club’s historic 100-year milestone with the Bosso @100 Special Collection,” the sportswear company said in a statement.
“Over the years, Looks Sportswear and Highlanders FC have built a trusted and dynamic partnership rooted in a shared commitment to the Bosso Nation.
“We are immensely proud to stand alongside the club and its supporters during this remarkable moment in Highlanders FC’s history.”
Looks said designing the centenary kit required close collaboration and attention to detail, with both parties prioritising quality in creating what is intended to be a collector’s item.
“The limited-edition 2026 commemorative kits and replicas have been specially produced as a once-off collection to celebrate the historic partnership and excellent relationship between Looks Sportswear and Highlanders FC,” the company said.
The merchandise is available at Highlanders Sports Club and selected retail outlets.
Looks added that the collection was designed to outlive the current season and serve as a lasting reminder of Highlanders’ century-long journey.
“The centenary represents a year-long celebration, and the Bosso @100 Special Collection has been designed as a timeless keepsake for supporters — one that will extend far beyond the final whistle of the 2026 season,” Looks said.
The company congratulated Highlanders on reaching the milestone, describing the club’s 100-year journey as one defined by “proud traditions, an enduring legacy and unmatched passion.”
But the season hasn’t gone quite according to play in the field of play.
Highlanders are currently seventh with seven matches remaining in the season on 41 points, 17 behind log leaders Scottland FC going into the weekend games.
