Victims of the Finland-Canada scholarship saga have threatened to hold a demonstration during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Uasin Gishu County next Tuesday to compel President William Ruto to intervene in the matter.
Addressing the press in Eldoret town, the frustrated parents and students accused the elders brought on board by Governor Jonathan Chelilim Bii of taking them in circles, despite having given them assurances that the matter would be resolved within 60 days.
The elders took up the case for mediation after the court concluded the matter, where the accused former Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and his co-accused were acquitted.
They want President Ruto to intervene for them to get justice in the form of a full monetary refund.
However, the elders have called for calm among the victims, assuring them that they are still within the stipulated time frame and the matter will be dealt with.
More than Ksh.1 billion was collected from hundreds of parents who sold their assets to see their children’s dreams realised.
