Zamfara, UN Strengthen Strategic Partnership For Sustainable Development

The Zamfara State Government and the United Nations have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership to accelerate sustainable development and improve the well-being of the people of Zamfara State.

The commitment was made during a high-level Strategic Engagement on the Zamfara–United Nations Partnership, held recently at the United Nations House, Abuja.

The Zamfara State delegation was led by the Commissioner of Finance, Muhammad Auta, while the United Nations delegation was led by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Muhammed M. M. Fall, who presided over the engagement on behalf of the Assistant Secretary-General.

The meeting, which was a follow-up to the visit of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, to Zamfara State in April 2026, provided a high-level platform for both sides to explore opportunities for a more strategic, coordinated and sustainable partnership in support of Zamfara State’s development priorities.

The strategic engagement further demonstrates Governor Dauda Lawal’s political will and commitment to strategic governance, effective partnerships and sustainable development, as his administration continues to pursue initiatives aimed at transforming Zamfara State and improving the lives of its citizens.

The delegation included the Commissioners of Budget and Planning, Professor Yahaya Zakari, Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Abdul’aziz Sani SAN, Secretary of the delegation; Permanent Secretary, Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Saadatu Abdu Gusau, Directors and other officials from the relevant MDAs.
