Toluwanisings: His Father Never Showed Up When He Was Growing UP – Uncle

An uncle to late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings has declared that his father never showed up when he was growing up. In a video interview circulating on Instagram on Friday, October 30, 2026, the uncle claimed that the singer was raised by his maternal family following the death of his mother when he was nine months old.

He disputed reports that the singer’s mother died when he was six months old, explaining that she had spent three months with her family after childbirth before travelling to Kano to join her husband.

According to him, she died six months after travelling, a development he said left her relatives suspicious about the circumstances surrounding her death.

The uncle claimed that the maternal family subsequently took responsibility for raising Toluwanisings because they doubted his father’s ability to care for him.

He further alleged that the singer’s father did not visit or provide support from 1992, when the maternal family took him in, until the death of the grandmother who raised him in 2007.

Questioning the paternal family’s involvement in the singer’s formative years, the uncle recalled periods when Toluwanisings reportedly travelled between Osun and Ekiti weaving baskets and later trained as a surveyor.

He challenged anyone claiming to have financed the singer’s education to provide evidence of such contributions.

“If any man paid anything when Toluwanisings was in school, he should show receipts,” he said.

The uncle also acknowledged the role played by the singer’s wife, describing her as a major source of financial support during a difficult period in his life.

While defending the maternal family’s contribution to the singer’s upbringing, the uncle admitted that Toluwanisings had made certain promises to his father but died before fulfilling them.
