‘Empty Lawyer’ vs ‘Go to Law School’: Miracles Aboagye and Akwatia MP Clash in Heated Debate

According to GhanaWeb on Saturday, October 31, 2026, tensions flared during a live television discussion after the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, clashed with the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo.

The heated exchange occurred during a discussion involving the two political figures, with disagreements quickly turning into personal attacks and accusations.

During the programme, Miracles Aboagye reportedly described the Akwatia MP as an “empty lawyer”, questioning his conduct and contributions to the discussion.

The comment did not go down well with the MP, who responded by telling the NPP communicator to go to law school. The exchange created tension between the two men as they continued to challenge each other’s statements.

The situation became more heated when the word “thief” was also introduced during the confrontation, adding to the growing verbal exchanges between the participants.

Rather than concentrating entirely on the issues being discussed, the conversation gradually shifted towards personal remarks, with both sides defending themselves against the comments made during the programme.

The incident attracted attention because it involved two political figures representing opposing political traditions in Ghana. Miracles Aboagye is a prominent communicator for the NPP, while Bernard Bediako Baidoo represents the Akwatia Constituency in Parliament.

Political discussions on television and radio programmes are often expected to provide an opportunity for representatives of different parties to explain their positions, challenge opposing arguments and offer answers to issues affecting the country.

However, exchanges such as the one involving Miracles Aboagye and the Akwatia MP can shift public attention away from the substantive issues being discussed.

The confrontation has also renewed conversations about the conduct of politicians and party communicators during public debates. While disagreements are an important part of democratic discussions, many viewers expect participants to maintain respect even when their political positions differ.

The incident has since become a talking point among viewers and social media users, particularly because of the strong language exchanged during the live discussion.

Although political opponents may disagree on policies, governance and national development, the confrontation demonstrates how quickly discussions can become personal when tempers rise.

The exchange between Miracles Aboagye and Bernard Bediako Baidoo is another example of the heated political conversations that continue to attract public attention in Ghana.
