University of Juba students clean campus ahead of exams

More than 75 students participated in a campus cleanup at the University of Juba on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, collecting plastic bottles and clearing waste from several hotspots across the campus ahead of examinations.

Organized by the university’s Environmental Club under the theme “Clean Campus for Exams,” the two-hour exercise focused on the administration block and its surroundings, promoting a cleaner learning environment for students preparing for their exams.

Students said they needed a clean environment to sit their examinations, adding that clean surroundings help the mind think more clearly. They emphasized that maintaining campus hygiene should be a shared responsibility among students and the wider university community.

During the exercise, participants swept the administration block and collected plastic bottles and other waste from different locations across the campus.

The initiative was conducted in partnership with Save the Nile, the Public Health Students Association and the university’s Wildlife Club.

The cleanup highlights student-led efforts to address plastic waste and promote responsible waste disposal within the university. Continued action, including proper waste disposal, will be important in keeping the campus clean beyond the examination period.
