The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has begun consultations with prominent leaders in Lagos State to rally support for the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation, led by the South-West Campaign Coordinator, Mr Eddy Olafeso, alongside the APM governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr Laja Adeoye, visited former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George, and other political leaders.
Those visited included former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs Kofo Bucknor-Akerele; Mrs Aduke Maina; and Mrs Onikepo Oshodi.
In a statement, Olafeso said the visits were part of ongoing consultations ahead of the commencement of campaign activities in the South-West.
He said the engagement with political leaders would continue to ensure that no key stakeholder was left out of consultations across the region.
“The visit is part of ongoing consultations to brief leaders and seek their support ahead of the commencement of campaign activities,” he said.
Olafeso said Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had continued to engage APM and PDP blocs across the country around his RESET Nigeria agenda, which he described as an alternative political movement for Nigerians seeking a change of government in 2027.
He added that Makinde had held town hall meetings in different regions to consult political leaders, stakeholders and other Nigerians and encourage their participation in the 2027 electoral process.
According to him, the consultations were also aimed at mobilising support for Makinde’s presidential ambition.
Speaking during the engagement, George described Makinde as courageous in his pursuit of higher leadership, commending his efforts to modernise Oyo State and strengthen its economy.
Maina also praised Makinde’s record in Oyo State, saying his performance demonstrated his capacity to lead at the national level.
She urged Nigerians to support his presidential ambition, arguing that his administration’s projects and infrastructure development in Oyo State could serve as a model for national development.
“If Makinde could fix Oyo State and turn it into a world-class state with people-oriented projects and infrastructure, he could reset Nigeria within a short period,” she said.
