Karate national champs set for Ongwediva

Close to 80 young karate practitioners from across Namibia are expected to converge at Oshana Gymnasium School in Ongwediva on Saturday for the 2026 Karate National Championships.

The championships, organised under Karate-do Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu Kai, will give athletes from Windhoek, Osona, Ongwediva, Ondangwa and Outapi an opportunity to compete, said one of the organisers, Stephen Nyamuzinga.

He added that they will showcase their skills and compete at national level while promoting discipline, respect and excellence through karate.

“The event is also aimed at encouraging youth participation in the martial arts and nurturing talent as Namibia continues to develop its next generation of karate practitioners,” added Nyamuzinga.

The organisers are inviting karate athletes and enthusiasts to take part in the championships under the theme “Stronger Youth, A Brighter Namibia.
