NPP Has Outperformed The NDC In Governance Since 1992 – Samira Bawumia’s Photographers

According to a report by Ghanaian Citizen TV on Sunday November 1, 2026, a political statement attributed to photographers of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s wife, Samira Bawumia, has generated attention after they claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has performed better than the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in governance since Ghana returned to constitutional rule in 1992.

The statement, which has sparked discussions about the governance records of the two major political parties, presents the NPP as having delivered a stronger performance over the years compared with its political rival, the NDC.

According to the photographers, the NPP has demonstrated a better record in managing the affairs of the country since the beginning of the Fourth Republic, a period that has seen both parties take turns governing Ghana.

Their assertion comes against the background of ongoing political debates over the achievements, policies and economic management records of successive governments under the NPP and NDC.

Since 1992, Ghana has experienced several changes in political leadership, with the two parties implementing different policies and development programmes across various sectors of the economy.

The NPP has governed Ghana under former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while the NDC has led the country under the late President Jerry John Rawlings, the late President John Evans Atta Mills and former President John Dramani Mahama.

The claim by Samira Bawumia’s photographers is likely to add another dimension to the longstanding political conversation about which party has contributed more to Ghana’s development.

However, the statement represents their assessment of the two parties’ governance records, with supporters of both political traditions continuing to advance different arguments based on economic performance, infrastructure development, social interventions and other national achievements.

“NPP has outperformed the NDC in governance since 1992,” the photographers stated.
