NANS Hails Tinubu, Umahi Over South-East Road Projects

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for the ongoing federal road projects in the South-East.

The praise followed an on-the-spot assessment tour by NANS leadership that began on Monday.

The student leaders inspected several projects, including the flyover bridge at Eke/Obinagu Junction along the Enugu-Abakaliki Road, the Enugu-Onitsha Dual Carriageway, the Second Niger Bridge (Phase 2B) linking the Asaba-Onitsha Road in Delta and Anambra states, and the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway in Anambra and Imo states.

Speaking to journalists during the tour, NANS Senate President Onyia praised the high standard of construction, the professionalism of the engineers and contractors on site, and the visible pace of work on every project inspected.

He said the projects reflected a government serious about delivering lasting infrastructure and urged the Ministry of Works to sustain the momentum until completion.

On behalf of the NANS Senate and Nigerian students, Onyia passed a vote of confidence in Minister Umahi for his commitment, hands-on supervision and results.

A similar vote of confidence was passed on President Tinubu for his leadership and sustained investment in infrastructure.

“NANS specifically appreciates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for opening up these vital corridors. The dualisation works, the Second Niger Bridge (Phase 2B), the Onitsha–Owerri Expressway, and the Eke/Obinagu flyover are not merely construction projects; they are catalysts for new economic opportunities, improved inter-state commerce, accelerated developmental growth, and enhanced safety for millions of road users, including students who regularly travel these routes for academic, commercial, and social purposes,” Onyia said.
