Vodza Iron Breakers: You have given Keta a reason to stand tall

There are victories whose meaning travels far beyond the final whistle. They enter our homes, bring old friends together and give an entire community something to celebrate.

Vodza Iron Breakers have given us such a victory.

Their emphatic 4–1 win in the beach soccer final deserves a special tribute. To the players, technical team, management and supporters: you carried the name of Vodza with distinction and gave Keta a powerful reason to stand tall.

A scoreline records the goals. It cannot fully capture the work that made them possible: the training, the corrections, the discipline and the willingness to keep pursuing a shared ambition. On the day that mattered, the Iron Breakers delivered.

Four goals in a final. A trophy secured. A community made proud.

For those of us who call this coast home, the achievement has a special resonance. Our beaches are part of our identity, our livelihoods and our everyday lives. To see our young people turn that familiar setting into a stage for sporting excellence is deeply moving.

They have shown what can emerge when talent meets organisation, commitment and belief.

Special recognition must go to Joshua Mawuli Kukuia and the entire management of Vodza Iron Breakers. Thank you for everything you have done to support this team and bring it to this proud moment.

Behind a successful team are people who keep showing up long before the applause begins. Their work continues between competitions, away from the cameras and beyond the excitement of match day. It takes patience to build a team, commitment to sustain it and belief to keep others focused on what they can achieve together.

Joshua Mawuli Kukuia and the management deserve our gratitude for that dedication. This victory belongs to them too. As we applaud the players who delivered on the sand, let us also honour those whose efforts helped make that performance possible.

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the team presented their trophy to me. It was a privilege to receive them and share in their joy. Looking at that cup, I thought about everyone whose contribution stood behind it: the players, the coaches, Joshua and his fellow management members, and the supporters who stayed with the team.

Every one of them deserves a place in this celebration.

During the visit, the team’s Chief Executive Officer invited me to serve as patron. I accepted with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. The team had already given us a reason to believe. Accepting that invitation means helping to sustain the work that brought them this far.

And we must give these champions more than a moment of applause.

Too often, a team wins, congratulations pour in and attention quickly moves elsewhere. Yet the next training session still has to happen. Players still need equipment, preparation, care and opportunities to improve. Management still has to plan for the next competition.

If we value this achievement, our support must reach those everyday needs.

Businesses, institutions, community leaders and individuals can help build a dependable foundation beneath the team. Consistent backing would allow the players, technical team and management to prepare with greater confidence and pursue even higher ambitions.

The Iron Breakers have demonstrated the talent. We should help create the conditions in which that talent can keep growing.

Their victory also speaks to the young person watching from the touchline and wondering how far their own ability might take them. Here is an achievement close enough to touch. Here are players carrying a familiar community’s name and succeeding together.

That example matters. It gives ambition a local address.

To the players: enjoy the honour you have earned. Then protect it through your conduct, discipline and preparation. Young people will watch how you train, how you treat one another and how you respond when the next challenge comes.

To Joshua Mawuli Kukuia and the entire management: accept our heartfelt appreciation. Your contribution deserves to be remembered whenever the story of this victory is told. May this success strengthen your resolve and attract the support needed to carry the team further.

To the coaches and technical team: thank you for preparing these champions.

To the supporters: your loyalty is part of the club’s strength. Keep showing up.

And to Vodza and Keta: let us celebrate with the fullness of our pride and the seriousness of our support.

Vodza Iron Breakers, you carried our name into the final and brought a trophy home. You have added a proud chapter to our community’s story.

May the children who watched you lift that cup one day tell their own stories of achievement and remember that you helped them believe it was possible.

Congratulations, champions. You have honoured Vodza. You have honoured Keta.

Now let us help you go further.
