A smaller story was buried within Manchester United’s 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
Manchester United’s 5-2 win over Ipswich Town featured some spectacular football over the second 45 minutes.
Bruno Fernandes stole the show, helped by the efforts of Kobbie Mainoo, Youri Tielemans and co.
Lost amid the fantastic football on display, was the decision taken by Michael Carrick with Leny Yoro towards the end of the game.

Amid the pouring rain at Old Trafford late in the game, Michael Carrick sent on the substitutes to see out the win and show what they could do.
Leny Yoro was brought on to replace Diogo Dalot at right-back, with Noussair Mazraoui replacing Luke Shaw on the left.
Back at the start of pre-season, Yoro was used as a right-back.
However, this was considered an emergency measure with both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui yet to return after the World Cup.
They both took over the right-back position after they returned.
Yet Carrick’s decision against Ipswich demonstrated that Yoro is being considered as a right-back option.
Both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are capable of filling in at left-back.
Manchester United are going to need this versatility, having failed to sign a left-back in the transfer window. It’s more likely Michael Carrick would trust either of them than turn to Harry Amass.
But the problem has always been that this removes a right-back option.
Switching Yoro to right-back, at least temporarily, solves this issue.
Yoro was the early statement signing in the Ineos era.
His progress has been steady. However, two years on he is not a locked-in starter at centre-back.
Matthijs de Ligt’s return from injury will dent his chances further.
Yoro can instead carve out a new role, as the centre-back option who can play multiple roles.
It is the most intriguing position change of the off-season.
