Over 1,000 pupils benefit from back to school’s initiative in Lagos

Over 1,000 pupils in eight public primary schools across Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State have received free school materials from the Olalekan Ayinla Foundation as part of efforts to ease the burden of education on low-income families.

The intervention, which was to support less privileged pupils for the 2026/2027 academic session, saw the foundation distribute school uniforms, bags, notebooks, stationery and sandals to pupils in the beneficiary schools.

The schools include Oke-Ira Primary School, Ogba; Onigbongbo Primary School, Maryland; Opebi Primary School, Ikeja; St. Peter’s Primary School; Adeniyi Jones Primary School; Tokunbo Alli Primary School and Shogunle Primary School.

Speaking during the presentation of the materials, Founder of the Foundation, Olalekan Ayinla, said the initiative was designed to give back to society, put smiles on the faces of less privileged children and reduce the financial pressure on their parents amid the prevailing economic challenges.

Ayinla urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and become good ambassadors of their schools, stressing that education remained critical to preparing them for future leadership.

He said: “We are doing this to give back to society and support families who may find it difficult to provide some of these basic educational materials for their children.

“We want these children to go back to school with confidence, concentrate on their studies and become responsible future leaders.”

Ayinla, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also used the occasion to reiterate his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the APC’s Lagos governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ayinla said despite challenges encountered during the APC primary election, he remained committed to the party, which he said should take precedence over individual interests.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu, commended the foundation for the initiative, saying such interventions could contribute to improving pupils’ learning experience.
