I know MPs who fund ‘Ghana Jollof’ videos

Director of Field Operations for the United Party, Hopeson Adorye, has claimed that he knows some Members of Parliament (MPs) and national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been sending money to Techiman-based senior nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe and others to share and publish videos by the TikTok account known as ‘Ghana Jollof’.

Speaking on Accra FM on September 18, 2026, Hopeson Adorye said he had personally seen some of the individuals allegedly involved in funding the activities.

He said he could independently mention the names of some of the individuals involved publicly but would only do so when the police themselves publicly identify them.

However, he assured the host that he could mention the names of the individuals allegedly behind the funding of the activities of ‘Ghana Jollof’ off air.

“What the panelist was saying, that some highly influential persons are behind this and are sending money, is true. I have personally seen some of them. I can even mention the name of one Member of Parliament and one lawyer who are also involved, but I wouldn’t mention their names here until the police themselves come out with it. However, I can tell you off air so you know the individuals behind it,” he said.

Police trace ‘Ghana Jollof’ funding to ‘highly influential persons’

Hopeson Adorye further claimed that the influential individuals send money to Salomey Awiti Baffoe, who then allegedly transfers some of the funds to ‘Ghana Jollof’.

He also claimed that the 40-year-old nurse has her own network of people who help circulate the videos after they are produced.

“NPP MPs and national executives have been sending money to this lady, Salomey Awiti Baffoe, to give to ‘Ghana Jollof’ and others to share and publish Ghana Jollof’s videos. She also has her own people who, when ‘Ghana Jollof’ makes the videos, circulate them. She then sends money to those people to buy data so they can circulate the videos even more,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service says its investigations into the activities of the ‘Ghana Jollof’ TikTok account have uncovered alleged financial transactions involving Techiman-based senior nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe and individuals the police describe as highly influential persons in society.

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Donkor, disclosed this during a press briefing on the case.

According to COP Donkor, forensic examination of Baffoe’s mobile phone and its contents established that she and Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, the alleged operator of the ‘Ghana Jollof’ account, had been friends.

The police further claimed that forensic examination of audio and video calls from the mobile devices, together with mobile money transaction records, had revealed significant financial transfers to Baffoe.

COP Donkor alleged that some of the funds came from highly influential individuals and were subsequently shared with Kodua.

She said the police had also identified individuals they believe were financially supporting the activities under investigation based on information retrieved from the phones.
