Spain recorded a net inflow of about 10,200 Moroccan nationals during the second quarter of 2026, as arrivals continued to exceed departures despite a decline from the previous quarter.
About 21,100 Moroccans moved to Spain between April and June, while 10,900 left for Morocco or other countries, according to provisional estimates from Spain’s National Statistics Institute.
Moroccans ranked third among arrivals, behind Colombians at 34,000 and Venezuelans at 23,300. They recorded the second-highest number of departures after Colombians, 11,500 of whom left Spain.
The Moroccan net inflow slowed from about 14,000 in the first quarter, when Spain registered 25,700 arrivals and 11,700 departures.
Spain’s population increased by 104,178 during the second quarter, reaching a record 49,801,559 on July 1. The number of foreign nationals rose by 87,197 to 7,437,543, while the Spanish-national population increased by 16,981.
The largest regional population increases were recorded in Valencia, up 0.43%, the Balearic Islands, up 0.36%, and Asturias, up 0.29%.
The INE said the quarterly migration figures are initial estimates based mainly on administrative residency records. Final figures will be published in its annual migration statistics.
