DCE sets record straight on Mankranso classroom block demolition for 24-hour market

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Abubakar Sedik, has dismissed claims that a classroom block at Mankranso is being demolished to make way for the construction of a 24-hour market.

The DCE said the claims, contained in a video circulating on social media are false and misleading.

According to him, the classroom block at the centre of the controversy was constructed in 2022 but has remained unused since its completion.

He explained that the construction of the 24-hour market has no connection with the classroom block and that there are no plans to demolish the facility to pave the way for the market project.

The DCE described the construction of the classroom block, which has remained unutilised, as a misplaced priority at the time, considering other pressing developmental needs in the area.

He said the 24-hour market project is a separate development initiative aimed at creating economic opportunities, improving trading conditions and contributing to the socio-economic development of Mankranso and the Ahafo Ano South West District.

Hon. Abubakar Sedik therefore urged residents and the general public to disregard what he described as misinformation surrounding the project.

He cautioned against allowing partisan politics to undermine development projects and said his administration would remain focused on initiatives that improve the lives of residents.

The DCE reaffirmed his commitment to supporting projects that he said would bring meaningful and lasting benefits to communities across the district.
