Betty Krosbi Mensah congratulates Hawa Koomson on election as NPP Women’s Organiser

Former Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North and NDC National Women’s Organiser hopeful, Betty Krosbi Mensah has congratulated Mavis Hawa Koomson on her election as the National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a Facebook post, Ms Mensah described Hawa Koomson as a former colleague in Parliament and wished her wisdom, strength, and success in her new role.
She, however, expressed reservations about a suggestion to provide pepper spray to women organisers as a measure against political violence.
According to her, while the proposal may be intended to promote personal safety and self-defence, especially in light of Hawa Koomson’s experiences, women leaders should promote messages centred on peace, unity, stability and responsible leadership.
“As women leaders, I believe our message must fundamentally be one of peace, unity, stability and responsible leadership, rather than anything that may be perceived as promoting violence or confrontation,” she said.
Ms Mensah called for women organisers to instead be empowered through knowledge, skills, economic opportunities, access to resources, leadership training and platforms that enhance their participation in national development.
She stressed that political differences should not prevent women across different political traditions from working together to promote the welfare and advancement of Ghanaian women.
She called for a Ghana where women are “confident, protected, respected, and empowered to lead.”
She also reaffirmed her commitment to contesting the NDC National Women’s Organiser position, saying her agenda is anchored in peace, unity, inclusion, opportunity, empowerment, and strong women’s leadership.
Her message ended with the slogan “Women Empowered.” Women United. Women Leading.”
