CHIEFS BOMBSHELL Manenzhe Says “I Like What He Did” About Shabalala

CHIEFS BOMBSHELL! Phumudzo Manenzhe Praises Mduduzi Shabalala With Powerful Message

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 22 OCTOBER 2026

Former Orlando Pirates striker and football analyst Phumudzo Manenzhe has praised Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala, offering a positive assessment of the young star whose performances continue to attract attention in South African football.

Manenzhe’s remarks, highlighted by the statement “I like what he did,” have placed the spotlight on Shabalala and the qualities he brings to Amakhosi. His comments are particularly significant as the Soweto giants continue their pursuit of consistency and stronger performances across domestic and continental competitions.

Manenzhe Shows Appreciation for Shabalala

Shabalala has emerged as one of the promising attacking talents at Naturena, having progressed through the club’s development structures before establishing himself in the senior team.

The midfielder is known for his technical ability, movement in attacking areas and willingness to take on defenders. These qualities have made him an important option in the Chiefs attacking setup, where creativity and decisive contributions are essential.

Manenzhe, who previously represented Orlando Pirates and now works as a football analyst, has experience assessing the demands of top-level football. His positive reaction to Shabalala’s contribution provides another encouraging moment for the young player.

Although the brief remarks do not establish every detail of the incident being discussed, they underline Manenzhe’s appreciation of what he saw from the Chiefs starlet.

Playing for a club as prominent as Kaizer Chiefs brings enormous expectations. Supporters want entertaining football, consistent results and players capable of making the difference in crucial moments.

For Shabalala, that environment presents both an opportunity and a challenge. His talent has earned him opportunities, but the next stage of his development will depend on maintaining consistency, improving his decision-making and contributing regularly through goals and assists.

The midfielder has previously demonstrated his ability to influence matches. On 13 October 2026, he scored a clever equaliser against Stellenbosch FC in a 1-1 Betway Premiership draw at FNB Stadium, recovering from the visitors’ early second-half goal. The club’s official match report highlighted his contribution.

Chiefs will hope Shabalala continues developing into a dependable attacking influence as the season progresses. His ability to create opportunities, combine with teammates and threaten opposition defences could prove valuable in the club’s efforts to compete on multiple fronts.

Praise from respected former players can encourage emerging footballers, although sustained performances remain the ultimate measure of progress.

For now, Manenzhe’s positive assessment adds to the discussion surrounding Shabalala’s potential. Chiefs supporters will be eager to see whether the youngster can turn that promise into consistent performances and help Amakhosi deliver the results their loyal fans demand.
