If Mahama Is Determined To Tackle The Cocaine Issue, He Can Address It Within 24 Hours- Botchwey Jnr

According to a report by UTV Ghana today being Friday, November 6, 2926, Ghana faces the possibility of an extended dry season that could threaten agricultural production, affect the livelihoods of farmers and expose several communities to increased weather-related risks, according to a warning from the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet).

The agency’s Director-General, Dr. Eric Asuman, has expressed concern about the potential effects of prolonged dry conditions on farming activities and the country’s agricultural sector, warning that insufficient rainfall could create serious challenges for farmers.

He indicated that an extended dry period could disrupt normal farming schedules, making it difficult for farmers to cultivate crops successfully and maintain healthy agricultural production. The situation could also affect crop yields, particularly in communities where farming activities depend largely on natural rainfall.

The warning has raised concerns about the possible economic consequences for farming households, many of whom rely on agriculture as their primary source of income. A prolonged absence of rainfall could leave farmers facing increased production difficulties, financial losses and uncertainty about their expected harvests.

Apart from its impact on crop production, extended dry conditions could also place additional pressure on water resources, affect livestock activities and create difficult living conditions for communities that depend on rainfall for their daily needs.

Dr. Asuman’s concerns also point to the possibility of increased weather-related disasters, making it important for relevant institutions and local authorities to strengthen preparedness measures.

The development highlights the growing need for farmers to pay attention to weather forecasts and adjust their farming practices to reflect changing climatic conditions. Access to timely and reliable meteorological information could help farmers make better decisions regarding planting periods, crop varieties and other agricultural activities.

GMet’s warning is therefore an important call for preparedness among farmers, government agencies and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

With agriculture remaining a major source of livelihood for many Ghanaians, any prolonged disruption to rainfall patterns could have wider consequences for food production, household incomes and the country’s agricultural economy.

Authorities and farming communities are therefore being encouraged to take the necessary precautions against the potential effects of an extended dry season.
