8 shops destroyed as fire guts Aboabo Bola Market

A fire outbreak at Aboabo Bola Market in Kumasi has destroyed eight shops dealing in metallic cooking wares and other appliances while firefighters managed to save 44 others from the blaze.

The fire affected eight of the 52 shops at the market near Zuria FM, with no casualties recorded.

Firefighters from Asokore Mampong, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Bremang and KNUST fire stations responded to the incident, supported by a water tanker from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Regional Headquarters.

Their intervention brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to the remaining shops and their contents.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established, with investigations ongoing.

The GNFS has urged traders to observe fire safety precautions and keep appropriate firefighting equipment readily available to help prevent similar incidents.
