BREAKING NEWS | Ninth body found in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng

A body of another has been found in Ekurhuleni, bringing a total number of women whose bodies have been discovered in the area in the past two months to nine.

Gauteng acting provincial commissioner Major General Fred Kekana confirmed on Thursday morning that the woman’s body was found in Dawn Park.

The scene remains active as police investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Kekana said the woman is estimated to be in her 30s

Preliminary information shows that the body was dumped at the scene and the incident happened somewhere else.

The latest discovery comes amid heightened concern over a series of women’s bodies found in Kempton Park and surrounding areas in recent weeks.

Police have not confirmed whether the deaths are linked, but a multidisciplinary team has been formed to investigate the cases.

Of the eight bodies, three women have been identified as Itumeleng Kekana (32), Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo (38) and Dineo Evelyn Motapane (38).

Kempton Park and surrounding areas are expected to come under a heightened police presence as authorities intensify operations and the manhunt continues.

Police have offered a R400 000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
