Senior U.S. Military Leaders Warn Hegseth Against Prolonged War With Iran
Several senior U.S. military officials have warned Secretary of War Pete Hegseth that continuing large-scale military operations against Iran would be “unsustainable” and could weaken the U.S. military’s ability to respond to other threats, including potential threats to the U.S. homeland, The Washington Post reported Sunday.
According to the report, the warnings came from the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as four-star commanders overseeing U.S. operations in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
The officials also reportedly expressed opposition to maintaining U.S. forces in the Middle East, raising concerns that a prolonged conflict with Iran could overstretch American military capabilities worldwide.
