An aerial attack hit two trucks carrying food aid for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Sudan’s South Kordofan state, killing one driver, the agency said.
The trucks, which were clearly marked as humanitarian vehicles, were travelling from Dilling to Kadugli early on Saturday when they came under attack, the WFP said in a statement.
The agency did not identify who carried out the attack. It said details, including the extent of damage to the food cargo, were still being established.
WFP called for a prompt and impartial investigation and urged all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the safe movement of aid workers and humanitarian supplies.
The incident came a day after another WFP truck struck an explosive device in Dilling after delivering food assistance, the agency said.
Four killed in Dilling
Separately, the Sudan Doctors Network said four civilians, including a child and a woman, were killed in drone attacks on residential neighbourhoods in Dilling on Friday.
The attacks struck the Al-Tumat, Al-Malakiya and Al-Ma’asir neighbourhoods and wounded several other people, the network said in a statement on Sunday.
The independent group attributed the attacks to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been fighting Sudan’s army since April 2023.
The Network called on the United Nations and international humanitarian and rights organisations to condemn attacks on civilians and press for accountability.
The RSF and the army have both been accused by rights groups and international organisations of attacks that have killed civilians during the conflict.
