Mokoena Picks Two Orlando Pirates Players Who Could Make the Difference Against Chiefs

Former Orlando Pirates forward Lebohang Mokoena has singled out two Buccaneers players he believes could have a major impact in the upcoming Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs.

As excitement builds ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, discussions have focused on which individuals could produce the decisive moments in one of South African football’s biggest rivalries.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Mokoena identified Mokobodi and Tshepang Moremi as potential difference-makers for the Buccaneers.

Mokoena praised Mokobodi’s recent performances, pointing out that the midfielder appears to be enjoying a strong run of form and heading into the derby with plenty of confidence. He also acknowledged that head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou frequently adjusts his starting lineup, making it difficult to predict the team’s exact formation.

However, Mokoena believes the youngster’s possible lack of experience in the Soweto Derby could present a challenge. The intensity, atmosphere and pressure surrounding the fixture are unlike those of an ordinary league match, and Mokobodi may need to overcome some early nerves.

Despite that concern, the former Pirates star remains optimistic about what the youngster could offer.

He also highlighted Moremi as another player capable of influencing the outcome. The winger’s attacking ability and creativity could prove valuable as Pirates look to break down their biggest rivals.

With the Soweto Derby often decided by individual brilliance and crucial moments, both players could have important roles to play.

Pirates will be hoping their attacking options deliver when they face Amakhosi, as they look to claim a memorable victory and strengthen their position in the Betway Premiership.
