The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance and achievements are sufficient to form the basis of the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yari stated this during a courtesy visit by the APC Presidential Campaign Council to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as part of the council’s political engagements in Oyo State.
He said that, given what he described as the level of Tinubu’s performance and transformational leadership, the President would ordinarily not need to contest for another term if not for the requirement of elections in a democracy.
According to Yari, the APC is confident in Tinubu’s leadership, experience and capacity to steer the country’s affairs.
He, however, stressed that the ruling party would not take Nigerians for granted because it controls the Federal Government.
Yari said the campaign council would follow the democratic process by taking its message directly to voters, explaining the administration’s achievements and presenting its plans for the future.
He maintained that the party would seek the support of the electorate through its campaign message rather than rely solely on the advantage of incumbency or its existing political strength.
The APC campaign chief also acknowledged the role of Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, in facilitating the delegation’s visit to the Olubadan’s palace.
Responding, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, assured the delegation that Oyo State would deliver massive votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The monarch expressed delight at the calibre of the delegation, which included former governors, serving senators and other prominent APC chieftains.
Members of the delegation included former Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Borno State Governor and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff; Senator Gbenga Daniel; former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Suleiman Wase.
Others were former APC Deputy National Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu; Senator Yunus Akintunde, Chairman of the Senate Committee on South West Development; and Hon. AbdulMalik Zannah, representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency of Zamfara State in the House of Representatives.
Also on the delegation were former public office holder, Hon. Gololo; former Zamfara State APC Chairman, Hon. Lawal M. Liman; Engr. Magaji Dau; and Hon. Sunday Akin Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications.
