It Is Over Irvin Khoza Drops Ultimate Bombshell That Changes SA Football Forever Ahead Elections

BOMBSHELL: Irvin Khoza Sends Strong Message To All 32 PSL Clubs And Millions Of Football Supporters Ahead Of Elections

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 2 NOVEMBER 2026

Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has issued an important message to South Africa’s football fraternity, calling on all 32 professional clubs and their supporters to participate in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Khoza has urged football supporters across the country to turn out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right to vote as South Africa prepares for the crucial elections scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

His appeal comes as special voting gets under way, with the PSL chairman using his influential position in South African football to encourage greater participation in the country’s democratic processes.

The call is particularly significant considering the enormous following enjoyed by South African football, with clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attracting millions of supporters.

Khoza believes that football organisations and their supporters also have an important role to play in shaping the future of the communities in which they operate.

Khoza Wants Football Community To Participate

The PSL chairman’s message is directed at all 32 clubs competing in South Africa’s professional football structures.

He wants clubs, administrators, players and supporters to recognise that voting is an important responsibility that should not be taken lightly.

Although football supporters are passionate about their respective teams, Khoza’s appeal highlights the importance of extending that commitment beyond the football pitch.

Local government elections have a direct impact on communities because municipalities are responsible for essential services, infrastructure development, roads, water, electricity and recreational facilities.

These responsibilities also affect football development, particularly at grassroots level, where young players depend on accessible sporting facilities and properly maintained community grounds.

With the main voting day approaching on Wednesday, 4 November, special voting arrangements are already in progress for eligible voters.

The elections provide South Africans with an opportunity to choose the political leadership responsible for managing their municipalities over the next electoral term.

Khoza’s intervention adds an important voice from the sporting fraternity to the national conversation about voter participation.

The PSL remains one of the country’s most influential sporting institutions, and its chairman’s appeal could encourage football supporters to take a greater interest in matters affecting their communities.

Ultimately, Khoza wants South Africa’s football family to understand that supporting a club is important, but participating in decisions that shape the country’s future is equally significant.

His message is clear: all 32 PSL clubs and their supporters should make their voices count by voting.
