11.86 Acres Near Brits Selling for Under R1 Million as Property Demand Surges in Primindia

An 11.86-acre property in Primindia, a town near Brits in South Africa’s North West province, has been advertised for less than R1 million, according to a Remax listing dated 5 November 2026.

The property is described as being suitable for agricultural activities and is located near the Crocodile River, with access to the surrounding bushveld, Brits and several game reserves.

The land is currently unserviced, meaning the purchaser will need to arrange connections for water and electricity.

Limited Property Supply and Rising Buyer Interest

Property listings in Primindia remain limited, with five properties available for sale on Private Property at the time of the report. Two of those listings were added in November.

The market has recorded eight property sales so far in 2026, according to South African Deeds Office figures. The average selling price was R600,000.

The limited number of available properties comes as buyer interest in the area increases, with properties reportedly attracting buyers soon after being listed.

Brits Population Growth Drives Expansion Towards Primindia

Primindia’s location near Brits has placed it within an area experiencing population growth.

Brits had a population of 53,511 in the 2011 census. Its population has since increased to 100,030, nearly doubling over the period.

The expansion has contributed to buyers looking beyond the town centre for residential and other property opportunities.

Primindia has also attracted higher-value property listings. One three-bedroom home currently advertised for R6 million is situated on a 4.8-hectare plot and offers approximately 500 square metres of living space.

The asking price is six times the average property sale price in Brits and ten times the average recorded in Primindia.

Mining Industry Supports Regional Property Demand

Brits and neighbouring Rustenburg form part of South Africa’s platinum belt, where approximately 125 tonnes of platinum are extracted annually.

Growth in mining production and related industries has contributed to population increases in the surrounding region, alongside demand for housing and other property.

Property prices in Brits have risen by 20% since the beginning of 2026, according to the report.

Rising Crime Remains a Concern for Buyers

Despite the area’s property market activity, crime levels in Brits could influence prospective buyers.

South African Police Service statistics show that reported crime in the town increased by 19.1% over the past seven years, with the highest level recorded in 2025.

Violent and drug-related offences have contributed to the increase.

During the year ending March 2021, violent crime exceeded property crime for the first time since the SAPS began reporting the figures. Violent crime has continued to rise since then.
