FC AshantiGold 04 Parts Ways With Karim Zito and Two Coaches

FC AshantiGold 04 has terminated the contracts of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeepers’ trainer Robert Dabo.

The decision, taken by the club’s Interim Management Committee, comes days after the newly promoted side drew 1–1 with Zito’s former club, Asante Kotoko.

Explaining the changes, Chief Executive Officer Edward Kwasi Akuoko cited inconsistent performances and reported disagreements within the technical team.

AshantiGold sit 10th in the Ghana Premier League with 11 points from eight matches, having recorded three wins, two draws and three defeats. Despite that return, Akuoko said management was dissatisfied with the team’s away performances.

He also said management had received reports of strained relationships among members of the technical team, which it believed were affecting results.

The club has appointed a caretaker coach to oversee first-team duties while it searches for a permanent head coach and technical director.

The caretaker’s identity and a timeline for the substantive appointment were not disclosed in the information provided.
