Kadjebi MP, DCE commission CHPs compound at Menuso to expand healthcare delivery

The Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency, Engr. Yao Gomado, and the District Chief Executive, Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka, have commissioned a newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Menuso, a farming community in the area.
The facility is expected to improve access to primary healthcare for residents of Menuso and surrounding communities while supporting efforts to bring essential health services closer to people in underserved areas.
The project forms part of broader efforts to decentralize development and improve the delivery of essential services in deprived communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Issaka reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to holistic development across Kadjebi.
He said the Assembly had undertaken several projects in the areas of education, health, sanitation, and water.
According to him, these sectors remain key priorities, and additional development projects are currently in the pipeline.
He also indicated that the government, under President John Dramani Mahama, was focused on completing abandoned projects initiated by the previous New Patriotic Party administration.
Dr. Issaka disclosed that the Menuso CHPS compound had reportedly been abandoned since 2018 but had now been completed and commissioned for public use.
Engr. Gomado, for his part, highlighted the importance of decentralization in promoting development in communities that had historically been neglected.
He said the system was helping to ensure that deprived communities benefited from government investments.
The MP also pledged to monitor the utilization of the District Assemblies Common Fund to ensure value for money.
He assured constituents that the funds would be directed toward projects that addressed the pressing needs of the people, adding that more development initiatives would be pursued under the National Democratic Congress government.
The Kadjebi District Health Director, Eric Nana Takyi, expressed excitement about the completion of the facility.
He said the CHPS compound had been long-awaited and would help reduce pressure on existing health facilities while improving healthcare delivery in Menuso and nearby communities.
The health director, however, appealed for further support to address challenges affecting healthcare delivery in the district.
He noted that several communities still lacked health facilities, while the shortage of residential accommodation for health workers continued to affect staff retention. He also mentioned the district’s shortage of health personnel.
The Assembly Member for Menuso, Emmanuel Kutol Makijah, said residents previously had to travel long distances to access healthcare. He expressed gratitude to the DCE and other stakeholders for helping to bring healthcare services closer to the community.
He assured the authorities that residents would take good care of the facility and support efforts to ensure its sustainability.
