Speaking at the launch at a colourful ceremony at Kunka, a suburb of Obuasi, which occasion coincided with a Durbar and Mini Clinic for Kunka residents, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, Director Sustainability Management AGA said as part of the partnership, two containers full of essential medical consumables and equipment have already been received and distributed to Bryant Mission and Obuasi Government Hospitals.
Mr Oduro Agyei noted that beyond the provision of equipment, the partnership will strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals through specialized training in Essential Newborn Care, Helping Mothers Survive and Cervical Cancer Prevention.
He further stated that the partnership will also facilitate CURE Clinics to provide Medical Outreach and Community Health Education with particular focus on Primary Health Care and women’s health including obstetrics and gynaecology. He stated that AGA, on its part, will contribute US$609,480 over the five-year period to support the implementation of the programme.

He mentioned that as the Ghana Health Service continues to strengthen primary health care and promote preventive health services, partnerships with organizations such as AngloGold Ashanti and Project CURE remained invaluable.
“These collaborations complement government efforts to improve access to healthcare, strengthen the skills of our health workforce and advance our collective goal of achieving universal health coverage,” the Regional Director noted.
Madam Rebecca Weber, Team Lead for Project CURE, thanked AngloGold Ashanti for the partnership to bring healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of the people in the two Municipalities.
