Yahaya Bello Vows To Relocate To Kano To Deliver Tinubu In 2027

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has pledged to spend two weeks in Kano State campaigning for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bello said he was willing to move to the state and personally lead mobilisation efforts to secure electoral victories for both leaders.
He made the pledge at the Yoruba Political Mobilisation and Empowerment Programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation in Kano. The event brought together Yoruba people and other non-indigenous communities, whom he urged to consolidate their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor challenged the groups to increase their electoral contribution beyond what they recorded in the 2023 presidential election, when they reportedly secured nearly 500,000 votes for Tinubu.
He expressed confidence that the political structure of the event’s organiser, House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, could help deliver at least two million votes for the president in 2027.
Bello also called on the communities to support APC candidates across all elective positions, arguing that their numerical strength and established presence in Kano gave them considerable political influence.
“We have a responsibility to mobilise our people and ensure that their votes count,” he said.
Making a case for Tinubu’s re-election, Bello appealed to Northern voters not to demand an immediate return of presidential power to the region, insisting that the incumbent should be allowed to complete two terms.
“After eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North, President Tinubu has not even completed his first four-year term. Must he complete his eight years before power returns to the North?” he asked.
He further defended the president’s performance, pointing to ongoing infrastructure projects in the North, particularly the Kano-Abuja Federal Highway.
Bello disclosed that he had dispatched an individual to inspect the road project two days before the gathering, claiming that improvements to the highway had made journeys considerably easier.
Bola Tinubu
Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State, said his long-standing connection with Kano informed the decision to organise the empowerment programme in the state.
The lawmaker disclosed that he had lived and conducted business in Kano for approximately 34 years before entering politics, describing the initiative as an opportunity to reciprocate the support he received from the people.
He announced that N500 million had been allocated as interest-free loans for women organised into cooperative societies to support the expansion of their businesses.
According to him, the beneficiaries include Yoruba women from eight states, alongside members of the Igala and Ebira communities from Kogi State living in Kano.
Abejide also promised assistance to widows in the form of food, clothing and financial support, while revealing plans for separate empowerment initiatives targeting youths and men.
He said the foundation had put a monitoring system in place to track the loans and ensure repayment, allowing the funds to revolve among successive beneficiaries.
The lawmaker urged residents to reciprocate the gesture by supporting Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf pledged continued protection and political inclusion for non-indigenous residents of Kano.
Yusuf said his administration had appointed special advisers from Yoruba, Igbo and northern minority communities to ensure that different ethnic groups had a voice in governance.
He disclosed that the government was considering extending the arrangement to Igala and other communities residing in the state.
The governor described the non-indigenous groups as integral to Kano’s development and called on them to support Tinubu and APC candidates in 2027.
