Dancehall star, Shatta Wale, headlined the UPSA 1000 & Ghana Entrepreneurship Conference on September 16, 2026, urging hundreds of students to prioritise discipline, reinvention, and the power of ideas.

The award-winning musician shared lessons from his music and business journey, getting the crowd on their feet with a performance and pledging two years of free shows for SRC Week after a request from student leaders. The university honoured him with a citation for his contribution.

Describing the day as more than just a talk, he said the students’ energy was truly inspiring.

He later took to X to express his appreciation to the board and management of the university.

“To the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, the leadership, faculty, staff, and especially the incredible students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, I say a heartfelt THANK YOU.

“Today was more than a speaking engagement for me. It was a meeting of MINDS.

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share not just the story of Shatta Wale, but the mindset behind the journey – the failures, the lessons, the ideas, the discipline, the reinvention and the belief that brought me this far.

“To every student who listened, laughed, asked questions and connected with the message, remember this: Don’t copy my lifestyle. Copy my thinking. Your greatest asset is not where you come from, what you have today, or what people think about you.

“Your greatest asset is YOUR MIND. Protect it. Train it. Feed it with knowledge. Believe in your ideas. And never be afraid to think differently,” the post read.
