NAGAFF MMIA Chapter Gets New Executive As Ezenga Hands Over To Ayomide

The newly elected Executive Committee of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Chapter, has formally assumed office following the official handover of leadership by the Interim Administrator, Mr. Stanley Ezenga.

The handover ceremony, which marked the conclusion of the chapter’s transition process, saw Alhaji Sulaimon Fatai Ayomide assume office as the newly elected Chairman of the MMIA Chapter alongside other members of his executive.

In his acceptance speech, Ayomide expressed appreciation to the national leadership of NAGAFF, its founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Mazi Chidiebere Enelamah, the National President, High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, other national officers and members of the Elder Council for providing the leadership and guidance that ensured a peaceful electoral process.

He pledged to run the chapter in strict accordance with the ideals and constitution of NAGAFF, stressing that his administration would be anchored on competence, integrity, unity and inclusiveness.

“I accept the mandate you have given me to serve as your Chairman, NAGAFF MMIA Chapter. I pledge to run this chapter in full alignment with the ideals and constitution of our great association,” Ayomide said.

He also commended the electoral committee for what he described as a free, fair and credible election, while thanking voters and delegates for their confidence in his leadership.

According to him, the new administration would not take the mandate for granted, promising to work with members rather than operate above them.

“I work for you and I work with you. This will be an inclusive administration. No one will be left behind. We will run a government of competence, integrity and unity,” he declared.

Ayomide extended an olive branch to his major challenger in the election, Comrade Innocent Abu, describing him as a winner for having the courage to contest.

He called for collaboration among all members of the chapter, irrespective of their positions during the election, saying the development of NAGAFF MMIA should remain a collective responsibility.

The new chairman identified unity and collective engagement with government and relevant regulatory agencies as critical to advancing the interests of freight forwarders at the airport.

He urged members to work together to build a stronger and more impactful MMIA chapter, declaring that “the new NAGAFF has arrived.”

Earlier, the outgoing Interim Administrator, Stanley Ezenga, formally handed over the leadership mantle to Ayomide, charging the new administration to build on the achievements recorded during the interim period.

Using the imagery of a flame, Ezenga said the chapter’s leadership had progressively increased the light and that the new executive had a responsibility to make it shine even brighter.

“That light had been burning like a candle. When Musa came, Musa made it burn like gas. Now, we are handing over this mantle to you to make it shine like electricity,” he said.

Ezenga expressed confidence that Ayomide’s tenure would be successful and peaceful, predicting that it would be marked by one success story after another.

He also urged the new leadership and members of the association to maintain professionalism and honesty in their dealings with government agencies, particularly the Nigeria Customs Service and other security and regulatory authorities.

He stressed the importance of making honest declarations and complying with relevant regulations, noting that professionalism and integrity were essential to maintaining good relationships with government agencies.

Ezenga further acknowledged the authority of the electorate, noting that the peaceful election reflected the will of the members.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God. The people have spoken, and God has spoken as well,” he stated before formally handing over the leadership to the new chairman.

He thanked members of the chapter, the national leadership and other stakeholders for their support during his tenure as interim administrator, assuring the new executive of his continued goodwill.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the immediate past Chairman of the NAGAFF MMIA Chapter, Comrade Udo Bernard Onyeka, welcomed Ayomide and his team, expressing confidence in the future of the chapter.

Onyeka described NAGAFF as a movement that would continue to grow, urging members to remain committed to the association and its objectives.

The former chairman also commended the new leadership and expressed his readiness to support the chapter whenever called upon.

The peaceful transition and formal handover marked a new phase for the NAGAFF MMIA Chapter, with the new executive expected to consolidate existing gains while pursuing greater unity, professionalism and improved welfare and representation for members.
