Sports Correspondent|Zimbabwean football is set to take a major tech leap with the introduction of Video Assistant Referee systems at three major venues.
ZIFA has confirmed plans to roll out VAR technology at National Sports Stadium, Rufaro Stadium and Barbourfields Stadium.
According to a ZBC report, the rollout is being bankrolled by Sakunda Holdings working together with ZIFA.
Work will begin at the National Sports Stadium, which is lined up to be the first ground to get the system. The target is to have it up and running before the end of 2026.
Installations at Rufaro and Barbourfields are also part of the same project. ZIFA says all three venues should have VAR in place by March 2027.
The upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to modernize Zimbabwe’s football infrastructure and bring local matches in line with international standards.
