Deputy Minister of Homeland Security Norman Chisale has delivered President Arthur Peter Mutharika’s support towards the 2026 Ngoni Umhlangano Cultural Festival.
Chisale made the presentation during a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Ngwenyama Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V at his palace in Ntcheu.
The Deputy Minister, described as a son of the Ngoni Maseko, was welcomed by members of the Ngoni traditional leadership before meeting Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V.
During the meeting, Chisale presented a donation from President Mutharika specifically towards preparations for the 2026 Umhlangano, one of the Ngoni community’s major annual cultural gatherings.
Speaking during the visit, Chisale reaffirmed government’s commitment to working closely with Ngoni traditional leaders and communities in promoting local governance and national development.
He said traditional leaders play an important role in promoting peace, unity and development at grassroots level.
The visit and donation underscore government’s recognition of the role of traditional leadership in preserving culture while contributing to national development.
