Primary poll: APC’s approach to resolving crisis flawed – Haske

Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Adamawa State, Abdurahman Haske, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) approach towards resolving crisis in the state is flawed.

Speaking on TVC’s Politics on Sunday, Haske, a former APC governorship aspirant, also accused party leaders in Adamawa of not doing enough to engender consensus ahead of the governorship primary.

Haske also said he has no any personal quarrel with the party but argued that its approach to resolving the crisis that followed the primary was flawed.

According to him, after the process, there was no serious effort on the part of party elders and stakeholders to bring all the aspirants together.

He also accused some party leaders of boasting about their Abuja connection and their ability to determine who would emerge as the governorship candidate.

Defending his decision to move to APM, where he is now the governorship candidate, Haske argued that political structures were always built around people rather than party offices,

“If you have good people around you, you have a good team, you have a structure,” he said.

Haske also said his campaign would focus on young people in Adamawa, describing them as the major demographic in the State.

The APM candidate said his proposed agenda to put Adamawa first was developed through research and needs assessment and would focus on addressing the challenges confronting residents of the state.

He said while he had cordial relationship with APC Leaders at the center, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the situation at the state level was different.

“What I think the party failed to understand is that it is more like a political reconciliation rather than a military approach,” he said.

Haske said the crisis became more pronounced just before the governorship primary when the aspirants met with Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, claiming that the governor had assured them of a free and fair primary, but added that events on the day of the primary was different.
